Paystubs tell a landlord you'll probably have money next month. Escrowed assets show them you have it right now, already set aside. That's a stronger guarantee.

Common questions.
Am I giving up my assets?
+
No. They're held in custodial escrow - pledged as a backstop, not transferred to the landlord. Legally yours. Returned at lease end.
What if my asset drops in value?
+
Each asset type has a coverage ratio built in to absorb normal price swings - volatile assets require more collateral up front precisely because they move. If your position drops, you get a warning at 120% coverage and a formal margin call at 110%, with a 2-week window to top up, swap to a less volatile asset, or partially liquidate. Forced liquidation only happens if you don't act within that window.
Who holds the assets?
+
Licensed custodians - regulated brokerages for stocks, regulated crypto custodians for BTC. RentEscrow never holds your assets directly.
Is this legal in my state?
+
We're launching in select states where the framework is clear. Reach out and we'll confirm availability for your situation.
What does it cost?
+
Roughly 0.5-1% of escrowed assets per year. On $27,750, that's ~$140-280/year. The calculator above shows your estimate. Landlords pay a flat $50-100 verification fee per lease.
What happens at the end of the lease?
+
Assets are returned within ~14-30 days after move-out clearance. Any unpaid rent or damages are settled first. The rest comes back to you - ideally worth more than when you pledged it.
